FIRST ANOUNCEMENT From 2007 the University of Zaragoza, in collaboration with the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour, organizes a school and a workshop in the fields of Statistics, Probability and Operations Research at Jaca (Huesca, Spain) to introduce the most recent advances and prospective challenges in those fields. The next edition of the meeting will take place from September 15 to September 18, 2009, giving established researchers, young specialists and graduate students the opportunity to discuss and work together. A limited number of scholarships for PhD and advanced undergraduate students that may cover partially or totally the expenses will be provided by the organizers. The school will feature two advanced mini courses: “Order Statistics, Progressive Censoring and Related Inference and Applications” by N. Balakrishnan, and “Multiobjective Optimization using Metaheuristics”, C. A. Coello. There will also be invited talks and contributed sessions. Presentations on applications are encouraged. The Scientific and Organizing committees of the Pyrenees International Workshop on Statistics, Probability and Operations Research, SPO 09, are pleased to invite you to attend this meeting.
